Tahiti Vacation

Over the years, Tahiti has drawn plenty of famous people – James Cook, Marlon Brando and Paul Gauguin to name but a few. There have been books about the islands, movies featuring the amazing scenery, and of course, Gauguin’s paintings that captured the color and life of the islands perfectly. In fact, Tahiti has such a reputation as paradise on earth that it seems crazy to be telling you why you should be heading off to the island, but here, nonetheless, are a few reasons you may not have thought of yet. -- Tahiti Vacation --
PapeetePapeete, the capital of Tahiti, used to be a small, sleepy fishing village. Now, it’s a bustling harbor town, with boutiques, restaurants and yacht marinas – really a playground of the rich and famous – so if a life of luxury sounds like your kind of thing, find it in Papeete! La Marche is one of the biggest, and most famous shopping areas – it’s a two story marketplace filled with local produce, arts and crafts. If you’re also interested in history and culture, then you can visit the Museum of Tahiti, the Gauguin Museum, and the Black Pearl Museum.

Renew Your VowsGetting married in Tahiti may not be legal, so you’ll want to have at least a civil service under your belt, but it is unique! Your groom will approach the beach, where you wait, on a rattan throne, in a wooden canoe. A Tahitian priest will marry you as the sun sets over the Pacific, and drums and dancers set the mood. He’ll also give each of you your Tahitian name, and that of your first born. Definitely an experience!
Amazing SightsThe Arahoho Blowhole is a unique and interesting site – a natural rock formation, next to the shore, where the waves rush in with such force that it sprays out the top – pretty amazing to see, as long as you keep your distance! Also related to water, the Les Trois Cascades, three beautiful waterfalls that rush over cliffs, on Tahiti Nui are pretty, and a great photo opportunity. The tomb of King Pomare the Fifth, who was the only king of Tahiti, and Point Venus Lighthouse, as well as the sacred, and slightly spooky Arahurahu Marae, a restored religious site, with strange statuary dedicated to ancient gods are all worth a visit too. -- Tahiti Vacation --
Water sportsWith all the shopping, exploring and everything else, it’s still impossible to ignore the amazing beaches and the Pacific Ocean, that’s on your doorstep in Tahiti. If you’re content to sit idly on the beach, then go right ahead – it’s your holiday after all! However, most of the resorts do provide scuba, snorkeling and surfing gear for free, so you could also venture into the water. Then again, you could watch sharks and stingrays being fed, take a 4x4 trail, or learn to kite surf. It all depends on what you’re looking for from your Tahitian dream holiday. The food in Tahiti is a mix of French fare, Asian cuisine, and dishes that are pure island style. But whatever you eat, you can be sure it will be fresh and delicious. Like everything else in Tahiti, there’s a wide range of choices, no matter what you like, and you’ll find something that’s perfect for you. -- Tahiti Vacation --
