-- Romantic Body Language --
How can you let someone know that you are interested in him or her romantically? It’s all about romantic body language. Communication changes whether you are speaking to your mom, your boss, an acquaintance, or your lover; and each relationship is different. Your body language and your tone of voice are just as important as the words you are saying. So what can you do to help make your romantic feelings clear? Here are some tips.
Lean InLeaning into your conversation shows that you want to get to know the person better. If you are sitting down, make sure that you are facing your love interest, and that your upper torso is actively leaning towards him or her. Tilting your head from side to side also gives cues that you are actively listening and intrigued.
Cross TowardsIf you are sitting with the person you are being romantic with, make sure that if you cross your legs, you are crossing towards that person and not away from him.
Open ArmsStudies have shown that baring your arms shows your vulnerability. Allow your arms to turn out slightly so that the inside of your forearm is showing. Imagine two people standing next to one another. One has his arms crossed in front of his chest. The other has his arms casually by his side, or on the table. Eye ContactThis is one of the most important ways to show your interest in the person with whom you are communicating! Make eye contact, and hold it for a few seconds before looking away. This can work from across the room, or during a conversation. A lingering glance can work magic!
A Touch Here and ThereLet the person you are speaking with really feel your interest, by touching her arm or hand every now and then. It will instantly deepen your connection. If she tells a funny story, laugh and touch her arm just for a moment. If you ask how he’s doing, touch his shoulder for a moment to show that you really care and want to know. When you care for someone, you inadvertently want to look your best, so other signs that someone may be “into you” is if she is adjusting her hair, or he is adjusting his clothing.
A Mirror ReflectionIt is believed that people instantly feel at ease around others when they make similar movements. This can be done to make someone feel at ease in a simple, unobvious ways. Simply match that person’s posture; if they lean in, you lean in too. Many studies have shown that humans communicate just as much with their bodies as they do with their voices. Make sure that your partner knows that you are interested romantically by showing that you are open, listening, and interesting. -- Romantic Body Language -- Remember to always respect other people’s space – it’s not always appropriate to reach out and touch someone! Show you are interested through a series of subtle gestures. Really listen to what the other person is saying, and ask lots of questions to get them to open up more. Romantic body language can only take you so far, so remember to be a great listener as well!
