If you’re considering a holiday in Switzerland, chances are, you’re thinking of the Alps. That’s a fantastic choice for winter sports, cozy resorts, and everything else that accompanies that winter wonderland. But, there are many other reasons that Switzerland makes the perfect romantic getaway, and here are just a few.
ChocolateYou probably know that chocolate mimics the chemicals of being in love. You might even care. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love it though, and with Lindt, Nestle and Suchard being based in Switzerland, you’ll find plenty of sweet treats on your Swiss holiday.
JazzIf you love music, and jazz in particular, plan your Swiss holiday for July! That’s when Montreaux has its world famous jazz festival. With organized concerts, and street performances, you can spend a lot of time listening to great music, and it won’t cost a fortune! -- Places To Visit In Switzerland --

Take a TrainIf you want to see the Swiss countryside a little differently, taking one of the luxury train trips through the country is a great idea. Good choices are the trips from Montreaux to Rochers de Naye, or take the aptly named Glacier Express from Zermatt to St Moritz.
Visit GruyeresIf you think Gruyere is just a delicious cheese (it is) think again. Yes, enjoying a Swiss fondue is another great way to spend an evening in front of the fire, but there’s also a town called Gruyeres. What makes the town of Gruyeres special is that it’s hardly changed since medieval times. Think about it – a holiday in a centuries old town, blanketed in snow. Add that roaring fire, the cheese fondue, and chocolate, and you’ll probably never want to go home! -- Places To Visit In Switzerland --
Take a Boat to Rhine FallsSwitzerland is home to Europe’s highest falls. Rhine Falls is one hundred and fifty meters, or thereabouts, high, and you can take a boat trip from Schloss Laufen to the foot of the falls for a close-up view.
In the MountainsWith so many amazing mountains in Switzerland, you really can’t visit without sampling the culture, cuisine and scenery. Combine your mountain holiday with a crystal clear lake by travelling to Interlaken. The views are so magnificent, and the area so typically Switzerland, that you’ll probably spend a lot of time just relaxing, and looking at the beautiful lake, and the two snow capped mountains that over look it. At Matterhorn, you’ll find the famous peak – although unless you’re an accomplished mountain climber, you might not want to attempt to tackle it! The world famous ski resort, Zermatt, is in the foothills of the mountain though, so if you’re flush with cash, and looking for a luxe holiday, why not spend a few days there? Of course, there are cities like Zurich, Geneva and Berne, with fantastic architecture, culture and nightlife, as well as many more attractions, and they should also be on your Swiss holiday itinerary, but remember to venture a little off the beaten track. For amazing mountain scenery, romantic winter holidays, skiing, and of course, those delicious Swiss delicacies, you simply can’t beat this beautiful country. -- Places To Visit In Switzerland --
