You’ve probably heard of the famous Panama Canal, which is one of the world’s most important shipping routes. However, there’s a lot more to Panama than just the canal. With its Caribbean and Pacific coastlines, interesting cities and other attractions, it’s a great place to spend a holiday!
Gulf of ChiriquíIf you like water sports, sport fishing, surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling, or would like to try any of them for the first time, then the Gulf of Chiriquí (on the Pacific side of Panama) is a great place to spend a few days.
Chiriquí HighlandsNearby, the Chiriquí Highlands are home to an amazing array of sights and activities. If you’re a flower lover, then the Valley of the Flowers around Boquete is a must see. Then again, the area is also famous for its coffee, and some of the world’s finest blends are grown on the slopes of the Volcan Baru. So if you’re a caffeine junkie, make sure this one’s on your itinerary. -- Panama Vacation Ideas -- Bocos Del ToroIf you like your holiday destinations remote and untouched, as opposed to commercial and bustling with tourists, then the Isla Colon, and Bocos Del Toro, protected, as it is by a coral reef, is a great choice. Unspoiled, isolated and secluded, it’s considered a virgin destination.

Panama CanalEven though it’s not the only attraction or claim to fame of Panama, it is most definitely one of the most famous. If you are going to be in Panama, taking a trip there, and watching the complicated network of locks move huge ships across land to an ocean on the other side is pretty impressive.
Volcan BaruAside from coffee, there’s a dormant volcano in the national park by the same name. There’s also a bubbling hot spring, and you can camp and watch the sun rise over Panama, or take the day to hike up the side of the volcano. -- Panama Vacation Ideas -- Explore the Jungle CanopyVisiting a jungle is exciting enough, but if you want a really unique perspective on the jungle of Panama, take a canopy tour, and you’ll see it from a zip line, travelling through the air. Not ideal if you’re afraid of heights, but a good idea if you want something a little different!
White Water RaftingSo you like adrenaline do you? If so, then white water rafting on the Chagres River, which is world class, is a must do! The level of difficulty varies according to the time of year, so make sure you go with an experienced guide! Panama has so much to offer, beautiful beaches, volcanoes, jungles, and cities. There are museums, the canal, a whole lot of adventure sports, and some amazing scenery. Food is cheap, with local dishes starting at under two dollars, and the people are friendly. This is also the home of salsa, so you’re sure to hear the rhythm of salsa wherever you go, and if you’re not shy, try your hand (or is that feet) at this sexy dance form. Really, whether you want romance, culture, history or nature, there’s something for you in Panama. -- Panama Vacation Ideas --
