If you’ve never heard of Mazatlan, or considered it as a vacation destination, maybe it’s time you found out a little more.

This island is also known as the “pearl of the pacific” and it’s one that has almost perpetual summer, which means it attracts sun seekers all year round. Year round summer isn’t all that this island has to offer though.

Here are a few more great reasons to visit Mazatlan on your next holiday.

Mexican Fiesta

If you like exploring different cultures, and nightlife, then the Mexican Fiesta, held three times a week at the Playa Mazatlan Hotel.

The evening’s entertainment starts off with a traditional Mexican mariachi band, followed up with dance music, and then a buffet, and the evening ends up with a show featuring traditional dancers, folklore and native costumes! It’s a great way to combine a love of culture with a whole lot of fun!

Beaches

Of course, if you are planning an island holiday, the beaches are a big part of the attraction, and Mazatlan doesn’t disappoint.

If you like beachside cafes, water sports, and hustle and bustle, then Playa Sabalo and Las Gaviatos are a good choice. On the other hand, if you’re a surfer, or would like to learn, you should head off to the popular surfing beaches at Playa Olas

Plaja Bruja is perfect if you want seclusion, and to escape the crowds of the tourist beaches. Whichever you choose though, there’s plenty of sun, and golden sand.

Shopping

A holiday where you don’t shop is no kind of holiday at all. Luckily, Mazatlan has several shopping centers, like La Gran Plaza and Comercial Mexicana, with boutiques, curio stores, food courts and even movie theaters.

Sport

Whether it’s sport fishing, horse riding, tennis or golf that tickles your fancy, or if you are just a spectator, there are great choices in Mazatlan.

Horses can be rented at Estrella Del Mar Beach Club, and you can take a romantic ride down the beach. Why not take a picnic with you, and make a day of it, exploring hidden corners of the island?

Then there’s the El Cid Golf and Country Club, with its tennis courts and golf course. Let your beloved play a round or two while you enjoy the comforts of the 19th hole, before venturing out to a restaurant or club.

Fishing in the islands is also a big attraction, with several charter companies operating. Tuna, sailfish and other big game fish are found in these waters, and even if fishing is not your idea of a good time, you could always take your summer paperback with, and spend time relaxing on deck.

Other popular attractions in Mazatlan are bull fights, walking tours through historic areas of the islands, and many other interesting possibilities.

Of course, even if you go, and never venture further than the nearest beach, you’re sure to return home tanned, relaxed, happy, and wishing you could be back on the Pearl of the Caribbean. And why wouldn’t you? It’s a beautiful place to spend time!
