How can I plan a cheap romantic weekend getaway?

My wife and I haven't had a vacation in years.. Everytime we try to plan a cheap romantic weekend getaway, it ends up not being as inexpensive as we had hoped.

We need to get away, but money just doesn't permit that right now.

Are there any tips you have on how to find affordable weekend getaways?

Any help is much appreciated.

Usually when money doesn't permit, most couples will just try to forget about a vacation all together.
