Contrary to the name, there’s not much greenery in Greenland! What there is, are an amazing array of winter attractions, and some once in a lifetime experiences guaranteed to give you memories to last a lifetime!
Dog SleddingHave you ever wondered what it might be like to sit, bundled in blankets and furs, on the front of a dog sled as it speeds through the snow covered landscape? Well, if you visit Greenland, you won’t have to wonder any more. You can take a trip in a sled, or go for something a little more conventional, by opting for some cross country skiing, accompanied by an experienced guide. And if you’re travelling as a couple, you get to cuddle up in a tent while you travel. -- Greenland Travel -- Watch Icebergs Bob in the BayIf you’re looking for a once in a lifetime view, you have to get to Disko Bay for sunset or sunrise! The bay is filled with immense icebergs, and the sight of the sunlight refracting and reflecting off them is one of the most amazing you’ll ever see.
Amazing Snow SculpturesIf you’re lucky enough to plan your trip to coincide with the annual snow sculpture contest, in the capital of Nuuk, you’ll get to see the most amazing examples of this art form on show. Who said art had to be about museums or galleries! It’s the fleeting nature of snow sculpture that really makes it so amazing – what takes so long to make, will eventually melt, and you will have seen something that won’t be around for long.

See Polar BearsOf course, you probably know that they’re dangerous, but sighting these beautiful, powerful and graceful creatures is a highlight of any visit to Greenland, and if you do visit, make sure you keep your eyes peeled! Then again, there are also reindeers, musk ox, walruses and even white whales, like Moby Dick, to be seen in this very unique country. -- Greenland Travel -- Eskimo CultureThere are several museums and other attractions devoted to the Eskimo culture in Greenland, and paying them a visit is definitely an interesting experience. If you like history and culture, especially those that are quiet unique, like those of the Eskimo, make sure you make time to visit a few of these.
IttoqqortoormiitYou probably can’t pronounce the name, but this town is the gateway to the world’s largest national park! The park is perfect for dog sledding trips, or even kayaking. It’s also got the world’s largest fjord, and at around the size of the UK, there’s a lot to explore!
The National Museum After you’ve explored this fascinating country, seen polar bears, visited Eskimo villages, and taken kayak and dog sled trips, why not stop into the National Museum in Nuuk, to find out more about the history of Greenland, including seeing mummies from hundreds of years ago, found in the country. Greenland is a very interesting place to visit – not much in the way of major cities, nightlife, or commercial activities like shopping, but a fascinating winter wonderland. Go. Play. Enjoy piping hot chocolate in front of a fire after a day in the ice and snow. -- Greenland Travel --
