Ever wondered why you should visit the Dominican Republic?

If you like your beaches with a lot of activity, there are some great options for you. How about trying your hand at kiteboarding in Cabarete, or parasailing in Punta Cana? Or head out to Isla Catalina, for some scuba diving. Then again, this is the Caribbean, and if you prefer lazing on golden sand, doing nothing more strenuous than flipping through your holiday paperback, there’s plenty of places for that too.

Golf

Okay, so chasing a little white ball around the golf course may not be your idea of the perfect day, but if you are traveling with a partner, chances are he’ll love the opportunity to go up against one of the amazing courses. Send him off for a day at Los Campos, La Romana or Playa Dorada, among others, and free yourself up for girly pursuits!

Take a River Boat Tour of the Jungle

Want to see the landscape of the Dominican Republic, but not too keen on hiking or walking? Good news! There’s a boat tour of the jungle at Cabarete, which also happens to be home to the El Choco National Park. Whale Watching in Samana

Like much of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is a great place to see whales in their natural habitat. If you really want to see these amazing creatures close up, best head out to Samana, where the viewing is the best.

History and Culture

There are plenty of museums and cultural experiences in the Dominican Republic, and if you want to learn more about the history of this country, you’ll be spoilt for choice. As for culture, all you need do is take a trip to one of the small villages, where traditional Dominican life is alive and well – why learn about culture in a museum when you can live it?
