Candles are versatile, with a variety of different uses. From decorating romantic bedrooms, to creating atmosphere and enhancing mood, candles aren't just used for special occasions any more.

Candles are great tools to utilize if you're wanting to set the stage for a romantic evening with your partner.

They are very beneficial if you're looking to enhance a certain mood. For example, if you're looking to relax, use candles with a more calming scent.





Calming Scents

These are typically scents used in spas and relaxation centers to calm clients and create a sense of well-being.

Types of Candles

There are also a variety of colors and sizes. Here are some common types of candles:




Pillar Candles - This types of candle is free standing, with a heat resistant base. They can come in a variety of shapes and sizes.




Tea Candles - These are small 1 1/2 inch round candles contianed in a round metal container.


Floating Candles - These candles are designed to float on water. They come in many shapes and sized.


Taper / Dinner Candles - These are tall and skinny with a wick running through the center. They are often used for lighting at dinner tables.


Gel Candles - Gel candles are transparent and have a jelly feeling to the touch, but are hard enough that they will maintain their shape.




Container Candles - These heat resistant containers (usually made from glass or ceramic jars) are full of wax and have a wick running though them.

Many people like these because of the safety in their heat resistance.



Votive Candles - These are contained in heat resistant glass containers. Usually about 2 inches high, and generally come in round or square shapes.




Luminaria Candles - Candles are placed in sand filled containers and are usually found outdoors.


Specialty / Novelty Candles - These are candles of various shapes and sizes used for decoration. They are usually made by hand, and are often formed to make different characters or figures.




Safety Precautions

NEVER leave a burning candle unattended.

Burn them in an open area, free from clutter and things that will easily catch on fire.

Keep them up high enough so that children cant get at them.
