Cayman Islands Vacations

Cayman Islands Vacations

If you thought the Cayman Islands was just a place with banks filled with money from dubious sources, think again! This island paradise has a lot more to offer, from the traditional beaches and resorts, to a few more unique attractions.

The Cayman Islands are actually a great place to spend a holiday, and here’s why:

Explore the Underwater World

There are many, many opportunities to explore the world under the sea in the Cayman Islands, and whether you plan to get wet or not, there’s an option for you.

You can scuba dive at the famous North Wall in Grand Cayman, or take the Atlantis Submarine to explore without getting wet. Or if you really want a once in a lifetime marine experience, snorkel with stingrays at Stingray City. There’s also a Russian warship that was intentionally sunk to explore, and many other underwater attractions.

Then there’s the one of a kind Cayman Turtle Farm, which is home to sixteen thousand of these interesting reptiles. You might even see the hatchlings digging out of their nests if you’re really lucky.

Pirate Week!

All over the Caribbean, the history of pirates is celebrated, and the Cayman Islands are no different. Except, of course, that they’ve turned the celebration into a weeklong festival, with music, art, food and more. If you love tales of pirates on the high seas, make sure you plan your trip to coincide with the festival.

If you do get to see Pirate Week, make sure you’re there for the famous, and popular, mock pirate invasion of George Town harbor – I can guarantee you it’s just like being in a movie!

Walk an Age Old Trail

If you like nature, why not head over to the Mastic Trail, which has been around since the 19th century, and winds through one of the last remaining rain forests in the Caribbean? You’ll get to see not only the beautiful forest itself, but many of its residents too.

It’s a beautiful walk, and since you end up in Old Man Bay, if you take your swimsuit with, you can cool off after your exertions!

Go to the Races

Hard to believe it, but there’s a great raceway in the Cayman Islands, called the Lakeway Raceway, in George Town, that hosts weekly stock car races. If you, or your beloved, are a petrol head, it’s a great way to spend a Saturday. Cayman Islands Vacations

There’s also Breakers, a motorsport park, where you can watch, or even participate, in races on the thirty acre track. Of course, the Cayman Islands also have beautiful beaches, interesting old towns to explore, some great nightlife, and a whole lot of other attractions. Whether you love fishing, or eating seafood, are a keen golfer, or want to shop for curios, you will find something that meets, and exceeds your expectations in these beautiful islands.

So next time you’re planning a trip somewhere sunny, don’t write off the Cayman Islands – you’ll find plenty to keep you busy in this island paradise.
